Come to Buttermere and welcome 2018 in style and comfort where a traditionally warm and friendly welcome awaits. Our two day New Year package is listed below, and we welcome you to extend your stay for as little as £50.00 per night (prior to New Year).

Please note, we do require a non-refundable/transferable deposit of £200.00 per person.

2018 New Year Package



We have not put our New Year package together for 2019 yet. This is just to show what we would normally include in the package. Dates, prices and details yet to be confirmed.

31st December:

  • A warm welcome from the Management and Reception team awaits you, as well as the aroma of freshly baked scones, accompanied with tea or coffee and served from 3 pm to 5 pm in the Residents lounge. Sit by the log fire and unwind from your journey as your New Year holiday begins.
  • A Bubbly and canape reception will be served prior to the buffet in the lounge from 6.30 pm to 7 pm, allowing you to mingle with other guests and exchange Lake District tales.
  • Our celebrated New Years Eve buffet begins at 7 pm in the Hotel reception, where an array of both local and international treats are served to you by our Head Chef and his dedicated staff. The buffet is available until 8.30 pm, and we invite you to enjoy the comfort of the Mill Beck room while dining on our sumptuous offerings.
  • Welcome 2018 with a glass of bubbly and tasty canapes from the peace and tranquility of the Hotel.

1st January 2018:

  • Start 2018 with a hearty Champagne breakfast served in the Hotel restaurant from 8 am to 9.30 am, or if you fancy a lie in, we can offer you a breakfast in our Lounge Bar from 9.30 am to 11 am.
  • Your packed lunch (please pre-order the day before) will be ready for your collection so that you can blow out the cobwebs while taking a stroll around Buttermere, breathing in the crisp Winter air as your boots crunch the frozen soil underfoot.
  • A warming treat of mince pies and mulled wine from 3 pm to 5 pm will be available to you.
  • Pre-dinner Bubbly and canapes are served in the residents lounge to prepare your palate before your evening meal.
  • A five-course celebration dinner, prepared by our Head Chef and his team, awaits you at  7:00 pm in the Restaurant.
  • Tea or coffee and petite-fours will be served for you next to the log fire in the Residents lounge.

2nd January 2018:

  • Full Cumbrian breakfast to set you up for your journey home.
  • Finally, tea or coffee will be available for you before we bid you farewell.

Frequently asked questions

Are you open all year?
We are open for 49 weeks of the year, and are closed from 3rd January 2017 and will re-open on the 27th January 2017. During this time we operate a limited reception service so please feel free to book online or leave us a voicemail.
Are you dog friendly?
Yes, we are! In fact, we are the only doggy friendly Hotel in Buttermere. All of our Standard rooms in the hotel, one of each type of our apartments (large and small),our Walker`s Bar and Reception area are dog friendly.
Do you serve food all day?
Yes, we do. We serve from 9:00am to 9:30pm. We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, Cream tea, tea and coffee are available as well.
Do I need to book a table in the bar?
We apologise, but we do not take reservations in the bar area. We operate on a first come, first served basis. The Hotel Restaurant is open for bookings in the evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. You can enquire via email or call the hotel any time.
What is the best way to get to you?
We recommend coming through the Cockermouth, Lorton way. Unfortunately we are unable to provide highway information other than the route we take to work. Please refer to other websites, and plan your journey ahead.
Are you family friendly?
Yes, we are. We have cots and camp beds available in the hotel or self-catering apartments. We also have high-chairs in the bar.
I made a reservation earlier, can I cancel?

Can you accommodate late arrivals?
Yes, but please notify us in advance and access arrangements can be made
Do you have Wi-Fi?
We offer Wi-Fi in our Resident`s Lounge, Reception and bar area. Due to poor service, there is no Wi-Fi, television or mobile signal in the bedrooms. Self-Catering apartments are equipped with TV and DVD player.
Do you cater for special dietaries?
Our chefs would be delighted to look after you with your gluten free diet. We also cater for vegetarians. To ensure that we are prepared please let us know at the time of booking, or call ahead.
Is there a bus to Buttermere?
During the season (Easter until end of October) there is a bus service operating from Keswick to Buttermere. Should you need more information please download the timetable.
What can I pay with?
We accept all major credit/debit cards apart from American Express. Please note, there is a minimum spend of £10.00 in the bars.
