When a hotel reservation is made, both the guest and the hotel enter into a legally binding contract. The hotel offers accommodation on certain terms and the guest accepts the offer – a contract. In the event of a reservation being cancelled, for whatever reason, the hotel may claim a cancellation charge, which could be a substantial sum equal to the total reservation. The hotel, on being informed of the cancellation, will endeavour to re-let the accommodation. This may not be possible at the full period or contract price. Together with an administration fee of £15, this may modify any refund. We would therefore politely draw your attention to, and recommended holiday cancellation insurance.
